Scented Fragrance

Selecting A Fragrance For Your Wedding
When imagining your wedding ensemble, the first things that come to mind are the bridal gown, jewelry, veil, and other accessories. However, there may be a very important element that you are overlooking: fragrance. Be sure to select a special fragrance for your wedding-- scent memories are the longest lasting. Your signature scent will bring back happy wedding memories for years to come.
For most brides, fragrance will mean perfume. For your wedding, it is better to wear an eau de parfum as opposed to an eau de toilette; the fragrance in eau de parfums is more concentrated and will last longer. If you find a fragrance you really love and want longer-lasting results, layer the eau de parfum over the body lotion. For brides that prefer not to wear perfume, scented lotion alone is enough. It is a subtle effect, but your groom will smell the fragrance when he is near you.
Perfumes have unique personalities-- just like brides. Your fragrance will be perfect if you are sure to match it to your style, the season, and the time and place of your wedding. Your perfume should complement your wedding gown and bridal jewelry as well. A dramatic gown will be enhanced by a bolder fragrance, like an exotic spicy scent. A classic scent like tuberose is lovely with a traditional wedding gown. Casual brides, be sure to try fruity or grass based fragrance.
A spring or summer wedding calls for a light scent, such as a verbena or honeysuckle. Aim for a fresh scent that will not be too heavy on a hot day. Of course, if you are having an outdoor wedding, be careful not to choose a heavy floral perfume which may attract bees or other insects! Gentle floral perfumes like bluebells or lilac are perfect for a spring bride-- the light scent goes perfectly with an organza gown and pearl jewelry. For a festive summer celebration, try fun, upbeat scents, like green apple or citrus.
A richer fragrance is appropriate in the colder months. You can choose perfume with a musk or spice base note. Perfumes which are classified as “Oriental” will be good options for the bride who likes a sophisticated scent. An intense, exotic fragrance would be a lovely choice for a bride wearing a trumpet gown and extravagant jewelry. A perfume with a touch of vanilla, orange, or amber is wonderful for a relaxed fall or winter wedding. If you are an eco-conscious bride, you may like a secnt with just a hint of patchouli; but do not use patchouli on its own, it is too "hippie" for a bride.
Try to keep the groom's preferences in mind when considering your perfume options. Certainly if he has given you a perfume that you like, you should wear that scent, just as you would wear crystal bridal jewelry that he gave you as a gift. Many experts recommend trying one or two new fragrances at a time by wearing them all day. A perfume you loved on the test strip might not work as well after you have worn it for a few hours, as fragrances change slightly on skin as they react to body chemistry. If you plan on trying multiple perfumes in a department store, bring a small bag of coffee beans; smelling the beans in between perfumes will "cleanse your palette" by removing the previous fragrance from your nose. Finally, don't forget that you can have a custom perfume blended for your big day-- this is an ideal option for the bride whose wedding is mostly custom, from the gown to the jewelry to the cake. It will become your own signature scent as well as a reminder of your wedding day.
